Richard's Journey
Dear Leila
It is with great pleasure that I have the chance to speak about my Journey as your patient.
It began when family and friends commented on how loud the tv was or cupping my ears to hear conversation when dinning out.
I had been coming to your clinic for ear wax removal about every 12 to 18 months.
However on the last occasion we decided to retest my hearing.
The result showed we need to have a talk about getting hearing aids sooner rather than later.
Your consultation process explained how starting earlier rather than waiting would make it easier for me to adjust, as you put it to; “train my mind to accept the new enhanced range of sound, hearing aids would provide”.
You patiently answered and explained every question I asked. You helped me understand why I should get hearing aids sooner rather than later.
Then came the decision on what hearing aid to choose from and in that regard we decided on the Signia.
Next came the fitting and tuning this process became so important and we worked on adjustments based on my new hearing experience.
I realize now the importance of this phase.
You guided me through this period in a way that made the new aids comfortable and adjustments were made to the point where new sounds experienced were exciting like:
Cellophane crinkling, or the sound of your pant leg brushing against the other. Bird sounds, leaves rustling in the wind, lower tv volumes, the grandfather clock ticking.
I adjusted to the aids to the point I looked forward to putting them in each morning experiencing rush of new sound that without the aid is greatly diminished.
The phone app is also a valuable tool to adjust sound in changing conditions. Being able to use them to answer your cell phone or listen to live streaming.
You and your staff are quite simply the best. Cheerful and courteous, knowledgeable and competent and lastly but not least patient.
The convenience of the location of your offices makes coming in for minor adjustments or advice so easy and quick

As I didn’t really know what to expect going in to my hearing test, Leila explained what would happen and patiently went over the results with me. She offered the options for hearing aids, fitted them and made all the necessary technical adjustments. I was made very comfortable through all this.

“For the first time in years, I can really hear my grandkids.”

When my hearing started to get worse, I told myself it was “just part of getting older.” I had a pair of hearing aids that I bought years ago, but they never really worked the way I hoped. Over time, they weren't giving me much clarity anymore and, the batteries died constantly, and voices sounded muffled — especially when my grandkids sitting at the table for meal times. I could see their lips moving, but I couldn’t always make out their words. It broke my heart to keep saying “What?” or to just smile and nod when I didn’t really hear them.

Money’s been tight since I retired, and I spend most of my days caring for my daughter’s two little ones while she’s at work. Now, I have advanced hearing aids — better than anything I could have ever bought outright — and the difference is night and day. The first time I wore them, I heard my grandson whisper “Nana, you're the best” softly under his breath. Now, I know I wouldn't have heard that little whisper before! I didn’t realize how much I’d been missing until I could finally hear it again.

Every month I stop by the clinic to reset the timer, pay my $100, and I'm good for another month. They always greet me by name and warm and genuine each time I come by. It feels more like visiting friends than going to an appointment. Knowing I can stay on top of my hearing without breaking the bank has given me so much peace of mind.
